Health Economic Study October 2020

DiCE commissioned the study to the Swedish Institute for Health Economics (IHE). IHE analysed the complete costs of each digestive cancer by country. Their evaluation included:

  • the direct health costs, such as hospitalisation, surgery, imaging, chemotherapy
  • the costs of informal care
  • the indirect health costs caused by premature mortality and morbidity.

The Institute carried out this study across 31 countries: the EU-27 member states, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and the UK for the year 2018.
