Digestive Cancers Europe is proud to announce that Wolfram Nolte Memorial Award for 2020 goes to Portugal for its project aiming to provide palliative support for mCRC patients and their loved ones.

EuropaColon Portugal will receive 5,000 EUR to organise home visits and phone calls to patients and carers living in six districts in Northern Portugal with the aim of improving their everyday lives. Validated questionnaires will be used to measure the parameters and assess the success of this intervention. The hope is to serve as an example for future palliative care programmes in Portugal.

Wolfram Nolte Memorial Award was established in 2019, in the memory of late Wolfram Nolte, former leader of the DiCE member organisation in Germany. The first winner was EuropaColon Polska with the project aiming to improve the quality of life for a specific group of mCRC patients that have functional urological complications after the surgery, an issue that was raised by Mr. Wolfram Nolte himself.
